The second in the series of craft ideas and parenting hacks that I am creating with my kids during self-isolation. These bookmarks are so easy to make once you have been shown, they make minimal mess, require only paper, glue and scissors, kids love making them, and they are really useful for children who love reading and books.
On obedience, I read a brilliant article about rebellious children in The Guardian. Before I had kids I imagined, rather smugly (what an idiot I was) that if you watched all the programmes, read all of the books and the magazine articles on how to get your children to do exactly what you want them to do i.e. sleep at the set routine times, then they will. But there are a lot of things that you don’t account for in this imagined pre-baby utopia. You try to follow ‘the book’ nonetheless, because ‘the book’ is the bible and you create a world for yourself where letting the baby sleep anywhere but the cot is a parenting manual sin
I’ve taken a mañana approach to New Year’s Resolutions this year. I was pumped full of good intentions pre-Christmas, my life was finally going to be worthy of a ‘How to…’ article on being a super-organised mum. But then, well, Peaky Blinders happened. My plans for Mama Life London world domination were put on hold while I binge watched Thomas Shelby of an evening and suffered constant wonderings of whether he really is a good man I could run away with despite his violent tendencies.
